Process Simulation - Validating Assumptions

Simulating a proposed business process requires focus and dedicated resources. The value of the simulation step is that it helps to validate assumptions while uncovering critical elements that may have been overlooked during the analysis stage.

TML Business Services' Simulation Methodology

When we lead simulation sessions, the following are almost always part of the outcome:

  • Related processes are discovered - These are then added to the requirements document and scheduled for further analysis
  • Workflow processes are modified - Unnecessary tasks are removed or combined with other tasks to streamline the process and decision points or communication protocols are added to the tasks
  • Roles and responsibilities are further defined - As the process of re-engineering the business process takes hold, hidden savings in time or cost are identified when responsibilities are placed with departments or staff that would provide the greatest value from performing them.

The simulation step is part of the iterative process that encompases the analysis step. They almost work in unison. The steps are repeated until you feel that the process or configuration documents accurately reflect your vision of the future.
